About Me and My Journey
Hi! My name is Gail Picillo. When I was younger receiving traditional talk counseling services, I never realized that there were other methods that could help along the healing journey. I found that my healing had stalled. As I moved through life, I found other methods that helped me reach deeper levels of healing that traditional talk therapy was not able to reach. The methods included yoga therapy, Somatic (mind-body) work, Forgiveness Therapy, and other modalities. With these combinations, I found myself in a place where my bouts of depression diminished, anxiety lessened, and my stress levels lowered. I began to appreciate and accept my body. I found that I was able to navigate my life problems with a sense of calmness and ease. It was then I realized the importance to provide individuals with several different modalities to address their specific needs. This is what I intend to provide to you.
I have decided to hybridize my educational and experiential backgrounds. I have two Master’s degrees: Counseling and Educational Psychology. I am a Yoga Therapist in training and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. I use my training to meet the diverse needs of an individual through a customizable plan directed towards specific goals and overall well-being. (Please explore my Services to learn about some of the approaches offered.)
My personality is a balance of sincere kindness, wholehearted listening, and an offering of compassionate, motivational inspiration.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking and meditating in nature,, bicycling, teaching and practicing yoga, reading and writing about the human condition, traveling, spending quality time with those who genuinely care about me, and walking my cats, Danny and Maia.
”Thank you for giving me tools that I now use on a daily basis. You helped stop the constant cartwheel that was going on in my head and stomach. Your open-mindedness and your gentle, compassionate approach, made me feel validated and safe.” Deb. F.
Danny is my Maine Coon who loves walking outside, sleeping on my head, purring to sooth me, and eating Maia’s food.
Maia is my little grey girl who loves to eat grass, drinking from the faucet, and puking on the carpet when most of the house is wooden floors.
