Sixth Teaspoon - Seeing When Ready to See
Remember the Magic Eye pictures? It looks like a bunch of squiggly lines to the every day eye, but when you sit there for a bit, you may just see a picture pop out (hint: the Magic Eye picture on this blog has the peace symbol in it). So how do you see the picture? Well, there are all kinds of tips like relaxing your eyes, or making your eyes ever so slightly start to cross, or to stand back a little big from the picture, or ever the funniest one I have heard was to look the other way then turn your head real quick and look at the Magic Eye without thinking!
Have you ever looked at the Magic Eye picture and could see the picture easily? There was a time where I could easily see a sailboat; however, my friend could not. She only could see squiggly lines. I first tried to outline the sailboat with my finger hoping she would see it. Nope. Then I started to give her so many tips on how to try to see it. Nope. She started to question me stating that there wasn’t a sailboat, and that I was making it up. She was getting irritated with me. I could tell she was feeling “less” than me as she was not seeing the picture. And of course, she is not less than me. She just wasn’t ready to see, which I have termed to be linked to each of our own journey of spiritual evolution.
The movie, Field of Dreams, captures this concept. Ray, his wife, and daughter could all easily see the baseball players on the field, but Ray’s brother-in-law couldn’t. He was accusing Ray to be crazy, and that there was nothing special about the field. It was only when a tragic moment occurred that the brother-in-law could see it. He couldn’t see it before for a number of reasons: (1) he didn’t believe in what was being told to him (2) he passed judgment and didn’t stay open to possibilities and (3) simply put, he was not ready to see. It was when the “stars aligned” so to speak, when his spirit was ready to receive that he could “see.”
You may find that there are moments in your life where you are trying to see what appears to be right in front of you, but you simply can’t. My guess is that we all are spiritually evolving at a pace that is specifically design for each of us. This does not make some of us better or less, but more simply on a different place along our life journey. We each are experiencing life as it was meant to be for us and what we are to learn from it. My life lessons may be different from yours; therefore, you may see some pictures faster than I can, and vice versa.
Here’s the thing - just like the first teaspoon of spirituality where it states you cannot rush your healing, so it is that you cannot rush your spiritual evolution. You will evolve with time and experiences. With this said, may we all be able to truly “see” on our life journey, so that we become aware that we are much more than this human experience.
